In a video from August 2025, on the way to his first day of third grade, Prince told his father he was looking forward to getting a Chromebook. It’s close to the only thing anyone outside his immediate family has heard him say. Everything else known about him has surfaced in a handful of photographs and captions, spread out over years, nearly all of them his father’s.
Information about him isn’t hard to find. His birthday, his mother’s name, a support figure from a 2019 custody case, even the date his paternal grandmother died: all of it is public. Records exist for nearly everything about this family except what Prince is like.

Who is Prince Thompson?
Craig and Thompson had been together since 2014. She learned she was pregnant in April 2016. He was photographed with Khloรฉ Kardashian that September, and Craig announced her pregnancy publicly the following month. She has said the relationship had already ended before that announcement.
Craig has also pushed back on the idea that she was the one left behind. “He never left ANYONE for me,” she wrote once in an Instagram comment as reported by People, adding that the truth was less exciting than the version people preferred.
A family that discloses almost everything except him
Tatum, Kardashian’s second child with Thompson, was conceived in November 2021 and carried by a surrogate. A representative confirmed the exact month once the pregnancy became public the following July. Thompson initially disputed paternity of Theo, Nichols’ son born that same December, then reversed course and posted the test result to his own Instagram along with an apology to Kardashian, whom he was dating when Theo was conceived. When his mother, Andrea Thompson, died of a heart attack in Toronto in January 2023, the cause was reported within days.
The money is on the record too. Craig’s custody case set support at $40,000 a month in 2019, with a $200,000 lump sum on top, and a later dispute over missed payments was resolved by the summer of 2024. That covers the legal and financial facts of Prince’s own upbringing. It doesn’t cover anything about who he is.
What his public record contains
For years, sightings of him were irregular, with gaps of a year or more between them, and the outlets covering each one kept reaching for the same word, rare.
| When | What the public saw |
|---|---|
| Father’s Day 2018 | First photo ever posted: 18-month-old Prince holding hands with his 10-week-old half-sister True |
| August 2022 | Basketball drills in a Chicago Bulls jersey |
| July 2024 | Lunch with his father at the Beverly Hills Hotel |
Since 2024, that’s settled into something closer to a yearly ritual: a photo on the first day of school. The one instance that included more than a caption came in a video E! News published during third grade, in August 2025. Riding to school, Prince said he was most looking forward to “getting the Chromebook,” because he could carry it between school and home, and mentioned wanting to win a Mr Beast toy as a class prize. The following year’s photo, marking fourth grade in August 2026, went back to the usual format: a caption about feeling old, and nothing in his own words.
The comments noticed before any article did
In July 2026, Thompson posted a photo with True and Tatum. Several comments asked some version of the same question. The most-liked, with more than 300 likes, read simply: “Where are their brothers.” A month later, under the photo marking Prince’s first day of fourth grade, a different comment asked where “the baby with that trainer” had gotten to, an apparent reference to Nichols’ work as a fitness model. That comment alone drew more than 700 likes, on a post that was about Prince, not about Theo.
None of this reads as hostile. It reads like people doing basic accounting on a family they only ever see one frame at a time, and noticing the totals don’t match.
Theo has never appeared in a Thompson family photo, a pattern outlets were already flagging as far back as 2022. A March 2023 birthday tribute Kardashian posted for Thompson included pictures with Prince, True and Tatum, and left Theo out of those too. Nichols has said publicly that she wants her son raised away from media attention, a different choice than the one Craig has made for Prince, who appears at least once a year, or the one built into Kardashian’s arrangement, since her children are part of a reality show.
What retirement means for Tristan Thompson’s son
Thompson retired from the NBA in May 2026, ending a career that started when Cleveland drafted him fourth overall in 2011. It is the first time in Prince’s life that his father hasn’t had an NBA season, a training camp, or a road trip built into the year. Those commitments were part of why sightings of him stayed rare in the first place.
Thompson had already spoken about his relationship with the three mothers of his children, in a podcast appearance a month before he retired. “We’re all friends. We’re all family,” he said. Whether a fuller calendar changes what gets posted, or just when, isn’t something the public record can answer yet.
